Carboxy methyl cellulose is a cold water soluble derivatives of the cellulose in which - CH2COOH - groups are substituted on the glucose unit of the cellulose through an ether linkage.
First cellulose reacts with caustic soda to form alkali cellulose. This Alkali cellulose reacts with mono chloro acetic acid to form sodium Carboxy methyl cellulose. This process with be done in the reactor machine.
Now in the market sodium mono chloro acetic acid is also available to use instead of using mono chloro acetic acid. Because of using SMCA (sodium mono chgloro acetic acid ) no need to make the alkali cellulose from cellulose.
The reaction are as follows
| Cellulose + Alkali |
-------> |
Alkali cellulose |
| Allcali cellulose + MCA |
-------> |
NACMC + Nacl |
| |
Or |
|
| Cellulose + SMCA |
-------> |
NACMC + Nacl |
As seen in the above reaction after completion of the reaction we will get salt as the by product.
The Reacted Mass (NaCMC) will go to the Ultrafine grinder. This grinder is having ability to grind the material without generating too much heat.
The material which coming out from the ultrafine grinder will have high moisture content because of addition of water & chemical at the reaction stagy.
This moistured material will be passed through dryer line and go to the cyclone system. The hot air will sent out from the dust collector.
The dried material will be pass through centrifugal giever.
Finally material will be sent to the powder blender to give the last treatment . Usually Biooide treatment is carried out in the powder blender.
The final product will be sent to the laboratory for testing. |
